What "Verified" Means

Understanding our verification process and what verification status means for retreat listings.

Our Verification Standards

A listing marked as "Verified" means we have independently confirmed key information using primary sources (provider websites, official documentation). Verification is evidence-based, not a guarantee of quality or safety.

Verification Requirements

For a listing to be "Verified," it must meet ALL of these requirements:

  • 2+ Primary Sources: At least 2 sources from the provider's own website or official documentation
  • Safety Evidence: At least one source supports safety/screening/contraindications information
  • Pricing/Dates Evidence: At least one source supports pricing or dates information
  • Valid Last Verified Date: Information was checked within the last 180 days
  • No Inconsistencies: Verification checks align with source supports

Note: Aggregator sources (third-party listing sites) do not count toward verification requirements. Only primary sources (provider websites) satisfy verification.

What Verification Does NOT Mean

  • Verification does NOT mean we endorse the retreat
  • Verification does NOT guarantee safety or effectiveness
  • Verification does NOT mean the retreat is appropriate for everyone
  • Verification does NOT mean we have personally visited or experienced the retreat

What Verification Cannot Guarantee

Verification status is based on evidence from sources, but it cannot guarantee:

  • Safety for every individual: Verification does not mean a retreat is safe or appropriate for everyone. Medical conditions, medications, mental health status, and individual circumstances all affect suitability.
  • Effectiveness: Verification does not mean a retreat will be effective for your specific needs or goals.
  • Quality of experience: Verification does not guarantee a positive or beneficial experience.
  • Current accuracy: Information may change after verification. Always confirm current details with providers.
  • Provider conduct: Verification does not guarantee ethical conduct, appropriate facilitation, or quality of care.

Verification means we have confirmed information from sources, but it is not a substitute for your own research, consultation with healthcare providers, and careful evaluation of whether a retreat is appropriate for you.

Unverified Listings

Listings marked "Unverified" may still be legitimate retreats. They simply lack sufficient independent verification of key information. Reasons a listing may be unverified:

  • Insufficient sources (less than 2 primary sources)
  • Missing safety or pricing/dates evidence
  • Stale verification (not checked in 180+ days)
  • Inconsistencies between checks and sources

If a listing is unverified, we encourage you to contact the provider directly to confirm critical information.

How We Verify

Our verification process:

  1. We collect sources from provider websites (programs pages, safety pages, policies pages)
  2. We classify sources by what information they support (pricing, dates, safety, policies, etc.)
  3. We check that verification checks align with source supports
  4. We record when information was last verified
  5. We update verification status based on evidence, not claims
